7 Octolens Alternatives, With What Each One Actually Costs

Octolens Pro is $199 a month. Seven alternatives with their real entry prices, read off each vendor's own pricing page — including the free one, and the two that cost more than the thing you were trying to replace.

Anil SalviCMO and co-founder, BrandRobin

Octolens is a good product. It watches the places developers and founders actually argue — Hacker News, Reddit, GitHub, Stack Overflow — it refreshes hourly, and it ships an API, webhooks and an MCP server on every plan. If that is your market, it does the job.

The reason people go looking for an alternative is almost never the product. It is the invoice. Octolens Pro is $199 a month, or $159 a month if you commit to a year — $1,908 up front, for one team watching one brand.

So here are seven alternatives, with what each one actually costs, read off their own pricing pages on 25 September 2026. Ours is the first of them, which you should factor in. Prices in this category move, so check before you commit to anything annual.

What Octolens actually costs

Two numbers, both from their pricing page.

Octolens planBilled annuallyKeywordsMentions a monthRefresh
Pro$159/mo1015,000Hourly
Scale$499/mo4050,000Real-time
EnterpriseCustomUnlimitedUnlimitedReal-time
Read from octolens.com/pricing on 25 September 2026. Pro is $199 month to month. Extra keywords are $10 each on Pro and extra mentions $0.013 each. The trial is 7 days and capped at 5,000 mentions.

Nothing there is unreasonable for what it is. It is simply a lot of money to commit before your first report, and for most teams the honest question is not "is Octolens good" but "do I need all of this yet".

How to choose between them

Before the list, the three questions that decide it. Answer these and the shortlist picks itself.

Which places do you actually need? If the answer is Reddit and Hacker News, most of this list is overkill. If you need Instagram, TikTok and review sites, half of it will not cover you at any price.

How fast do you need to know? Hourly and real-time cost real money. Something that checks every six or twelve hours is fine for brand tracking and useless for a live incident.

Who has to read it? A tool for one founder and a tool that produces a client report every Monday are different products. Reporting is where the price jumps in this category, more than coverage does.

BrandRobin — $49 a month

Ours, so read it with that in mind and check the table against both pricing pages.

BrandRobin matches the Octolens Pro plan where it counts — the same 10 keywords, the same 15,000 mentions, the same unlimited seats — at $49 a month, or $39 billed annually.

Octolens figures from octolens.com/pricing, 25 September 2026. The full line-by-line comparison, including where Octolens is ahead, is on our comparison page.

Use it if you want the Octolens plan without the Octolens invoice, and you need the consumer channels as well as the developer ones.

Watch for refresh frequency. We update every six hours where Octolens refreshes hourly, and we do not cover TikTok. If either of those is the job, buy the one that does it.

F5Bot — free

The first thing to try, and the one nobody tells you about because there is no sales team to tell you.

F5Bot monitors Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters for your keywords and emails you within minutes. The free tier is free forever. There are paid tiers at $9.99 and $49.99 a month for higher volume.

Use it if you want to know when your product comes up on Reddit or Hacker News and nothing else. That is a real and common need, and it does not require a subscription.

It will not give you sentiment, reporting, a dashboard, or anything outside those three sites. It is an alerting tool, not a listening platform.

Buska — from $49 a month

Positioned at B2B founders without a sales team, and priced accordingly.

Starter is $49 a month for 5 monitored signals, one seat and what they describe as "16+ sources". Growth is $99 for 15 signals, five seats and "28+ sources" including TikTok, Facebook and Trustpilot. Scale is $249 for 30 signals and unlimited seats. Annual billing takes roughly 17% off.

Use it if you want buying-intent signals rather than brand mentions, and you are happy with a seat limit at the bottom of the range.

Watch for the source counts. "16+", "28+" and "33+" are the kind of numbers that are hard to check, and the tier you need is usually set by which specific platform you care about rather than by the total.

Awario — from $29 a month billed annually

The cheapest entry point of the full listening platforms, and the one with the most generous mention allowance at the bottom.

Awario planMonthlyBilled annuallyTopicsMentions a monthSeats
Starter$49$29/mo330,0001
Pro$149$89/mo15300,00010
Enterprise$399$249/mo1001,000,000Unlimited
Read from awario.com/pricing on 25 September 2026. Update frequency is not published on the pricing page — ask before you buy if speed matters.

Use it if volume is your constraint. Thirty thousand mentions a month at $29 is the best mention-per-dollar on this list by a distance.

Watch for the single seat on Starter, and the missing refresh frequency. A mention allowance is not much use if the mentions arrive a day late, and the page does not say.

Brand24 — from $199 a month billed annually

Worth including precisely because it is not cheaper. People arrive at Brand24 expecting an Octolens alternative and find a different category of purchase.

Brand24 planMonthlyBilled annuallyKeywordsMentions a monthUpdates
Individual$249$199/mo32,000Every 12h
Team$349$299/mo710,000Every hour
Pro$499$399/mo1240,000Real-time
Read from brand24.com/pricing on 25 September 2026.

The coverage is genuinely broad — Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs, Reddit, LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, YouTube, TikTok, reviews, Twitch, newsletters and podcasts.

Use it if you need consumer channels and review sites, and you have the budget for it.

Watch for the entry plan. Three keywords, 2,000 mentions and a twelve-hour refresh at $199 a month is a demo of the product rather than the product.

Mentionlytics — from $49 a month

Mid-market listening, with review sites as a paid add-on.

Basic is $49 a month for 3 keywords, 5,000 mentions and 2 users. Essential is $169 for 10 keywords and 15,000 mentions. Advanced is $299 for 15 keywords and 50,000 mentions.

Use it if you want broad web, social and review coverage in one place and you are comfortable at the $169 tier, which is where the product really starts.

Watch for the jump. Basic to Essential is $49 to $169 — more than triple — and 5,000 mentions goes quickly for anything consumer-facing.

Mention — price on request

Mention covers Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, news, blogs, forums and what it describes as 75+ review sites including Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor.

What it does not do, as of 25 September 2026, is publish a price. The pricing page shows plan names and a demo request.

Use it if you are running a procurement process anyway and a quote is not an obstacle.

Watch for what an unpublished price usually means: the number is negotiated, it depends on how large your company looks on the form, and it is rarely at the bottom of this list.

Entry prices as published on 25 September 2026. Ours is first because it is ours; the rest follow by price.

These are not all competing with each other. F5Bot is an alert service, Buska is an intent tool, and Brand24 is a consumer listening platform that happens to cost more than the thing you were trying to replace. Work out which of those jobs you have before you compare prices.

And whatever you shortlist, run the trial on your own brand name rather than on the demo account. Every tool in this category looks excellent on somebody else's data.

Someone is talking about your brand right now. Be there when they do.
