Reddit monitoring

Track Reddit mentions of your brand, product, competitors, and niche.

People ask which tool to buy and strangers answer. You are almost never tagged, the thread is rarely deleted, and it will still be the first thing a buyer reads in two years.

Which project management software is actually worth it for a team of six?

Been trialling a few. Every comparison I can find is written by one of the vendors. What are people actually using day to day?

@Trello if you want something running this week. Took me an afternoon to set up and the whole team understood it without training.

Seconding, depending on how much structure you need. We went looking again once we wanted dependencies and timelines. Nobody from any of these companies is in this thread, by the way.

One thread, 86 comments, 412 upvotes, and not a single person from any of the companies being discussed. That is the normal case on Reddit, not the unusual one.

Why Reddit specifically

A Reddit thread outranks your own page and outlives your campaign.

People add “reddit” to searches because they want an answer from someone with nothing to sell. Search engines learned that, and now a four-year-old thread often sits above the page you wrote last week — with your brand described by a stranger who never heard back from you.

A thread does not expire. The one above has been collecting replies for two years, and every new one edits what the next buyer believes about you.

The five subreddit counts above sum to the 431 total.

This is the part of the internet where your brand gets described by people with nothing to sell, in front of buyers who trust exactly that. Reading it is not optional. Joining in uninvited is a different decision, and a riskier one.

What you can track

Reddit has its own shape, so it gets its own tracking.

Channel-level monitoring is not enough here. A mention in r/projectmanagement and the same words in r/smallbusiness are two different audiences, two different risks and two different jobs.

  • Subreddit by subreddit

Pick the communities that matter and see each one separately, with its own volume, sentiment and themes.

Because r/SaaS and r/smallbusiness are not the same audience.

  • Posts and comments

Comments are where Reddit actually happens. We read the replies, not just the post that started it.

The reply with 228 upvotes matters more than the post with 412.

  • Buying questions

Threads asking which tool to pick, scored for how ready the asker is, with the competitors named in the replies.

“Anyone tried X for a team of six?” is a buyer, in public, today.

  • Threads that keep growing

Old posts that start collecting replies again, which is usually the first sign something has changed.

A two-year-old thread waking up is worth knowing about the same day.

From a thread to a decision

One comment is an opinion. The top comment is the answer.

Reddit sorts itself. The reply people upvote becomes the thread's answer, the thread becomes the search result, and the search result becomes what the next hundred buyers believe.

What we do not do: post, comment, vote, message anyone or automate anything inside Reddit. We read what is public and hand you the thread. Reddit's rules on self-promotion are strict and enforced by people, not us — the good version of a reply is written by a named employee who says where they work. Private subreddits, DMs and deleted content are not covered.
